I am really glad that I could take part in Deck the Halls series on Jennifer's blog (Ellison Lane Quilts).
I made a festive pillow using my pattern 'Not so spring deer':
All the details about this pattern you'll find on Jennifer blog HERE, as weel as on mine HERE (there's also a story why I didn't finish lap quilt pattern which I originally planned for this series...).
Preparing a pattern for this series was a great fun and now something which we all love: giveaway!
I am really glad that sponsor of Deck the Halls giveaway on my blog is Sew Fresh Fabrics:
I have opportunity to make shopping at Sew Fresh Fabrics several times and each time I was more than happy with customer service, quality of fabrics and prices! They have always great selection of fabrics (including Japanese imports, which I love!) and what is sometimes priceless: they sell fat quarters too!
There will be one winner selected randomly by Mr. True Random Generator.
Prize: gift certificate worth 20 dollars!
The rules are simple:
1) tell me in a comment which holiday colorway is out of your comfort zone (for example I never sew anything from THIS fabric, which I adore, but I was afraid to use black for Christmas...);
2) for second entry please visit Sew Fresh Fabrics Etsy Store and tell me in second comment what fabrics would you like to get if you win this giveaway:);
3) as always, my followers (old or new:) have another additional entry (just leave me a comment telling me that you are follower).
Giveaway will last 7 days from now (until December 11, 2012 CST) and I will announce winner on Wednesday (December 12, 2012).
Please make sure that I can contact you! (if you are no-reply blogger, please put your e-mail in comment).
Good luck!
1) napisz w komentarzu jaka kolorystyka świąteczna nie jest w Twoim typie (np. nigdy nie uszyłam nic z TEJ tkaniny, choć bardzo mi się ona podoba, ale jakoś od dawna nie mam odwagi na to by czarny pojawił się w naszym domu na Święta...);
2) druga szansa to drugi komentarz w którym napisz co wybrałabyś z oferty sklepu Sew Fresh Fabrics gdyby szczęście podczas cuksów uśmiechnęło się do Ciebie:);
3) jak zwykle, moi obserwatorzy ("starzy" i nowi:) mają dodatkową szansę (wystarczy zostawić oddzielny komentarz i "powiadomić" mnie o tym).
Cuksy trwają tydzień (do końca 11 grudnia 2012 r.), następnego dnia ogłoszę Zwycięzcę.
Jeśli jesteś "no-reply" bloggerem, upewnij się proszę, że będę miała możliwość skontaktowania się z Tobą w sprawie odbioru nagrody (np. poprzez zamieszczenie w jednym z komentarzy adresu e-mail).
Powodzenia!

Hi! I think I shy away from golds and forest green for the holidays. I know that is weird, but I like a less traditional color palette.
OdpowiedzUsuńI love the Oh Dear collection. I follow you on Facebook. Thanks for the chance!
Oh, and a great pillow pattern! Very cute!
OdpowiedzUsuńI tend to like red and green. I've tried venturing into aqua and pink this year...
OdpowiedzUsuńI love Sew Fresh Fabrics! What would I like? Maybe some Echino, which I've never owned, or a bundle of fresh, new Kona colors. Or maybe some of those darling novelty prints...do I have to decide right now?
OdpowiedzUsuńI am a follower already!
OdpowiedzUsuńI think this would be pink! Thanks so much!
OdpowiedzUsuńI love the juggling summer charm pack!
OdpowiedzUsuńI have a hard time with red. Love bright pinks though! Beautiful pillow btw!
OdpowiedzUsuńThe more color the better. I'll try anything once.
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm a follower on Google Reader!
OdpowiedzUsuńI don't know that I'm afraid of any color combinations. I probably would stay away from the traditional red and green if anything!
OdpowiedzUsuńIf I won, I'd probably choose some basics--dots and stripes. I love a lot of them at Sew Fresh Fabrics.
OdpowiedzUsuńI agree, black doesnt seem nice for holiday for me:p
OdpowiedzUsuńI tend to avoid burgundy and gold...
OdpowiedzUsuńSome echino would be great to have!:D
OdpowiedzUsuńI follow you:)
OdpowiedzUsuńI am timid about using pink and teal for Christmas although I love what I have seen in those colors.
OdpowiedzUsuńI find I don't use orange very often
OdpowiedzUsuńI am a follower
OdpowiedzUsuńI love dark greens, but find it hard to use much of them! And even more, I find it hard to use Only two colors!
OdpowiedzUsuńI am a new follower, thanks to Elliso Lane Quilts! Love your deer and the winterkist background!ew
OdpowiedzUsuńI went to Sew Fresh Fabrics-- always fun! If I win, I would either choose a noce mini bundle, or several fabrics with a similar color or theme. Or, I would gonfor it with two nice yards of Echino that I normally might not spring for! Thanks for the chance to win!
OdpowiedzUsuńI am a follower!
OdpowiedzUsuńI like almost all of the colors for Christmas, but rarely use a bright kelly green.
OdpowiedzUsuńI would spend a gift certificate at Sew Fresh Fabrics on a Etsuko Furuya Bird Panel
OdpowiedzUsuńI think I´d avoid pink fabrics. Love the colour, but not at christmas :)
OdpowiedzUsuńGun, Sweden
gun@lapp.se
I'm with you - i think black would be kind of hard to use for Holiday sewing.
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm a new follower.
OdpowiedzUsuńAnd on the sew fresh fabrics site - I've had my eye on Dandi Blocks from Commute by Jay-Cyn for Birch Fabrics for a while now.
OdpowiedzUsuńI think black is great for holidays- dramatic and sets off reds and greens. In fact, I am not a huge fan of only red and green but I LOVE your deer!
OdpowiedzUsuńNow I looked through all the lovely fabrics at Sew Fresh Fabrics! Hard to choose one..... Decision......Burst in Multi on White from Fruit Slice!
OdpowiedzUsuńGun, Sweden
gun@lapp.se
I see lots of aqua used in Christmas fabrics and though the things made with it are really cute, I can't envision me using it for a Christmas project.
OdpowiedzUsuńI hear lots about Japanese fabrics and would like to try some. When I did a search on Sew Fresh, it didn't return any J. fabrics. Can you tell me what are some of the names of the companies who manufacture Japanese fabrics?
OdpowiedzUsuńI have ordered from SFF before. I love the texty prints.
OdpowiedzUsuńI follow!
OdpowiedzUsuńLove the reindeer! Hmmm, I don't like khaki or olive green and have never sewed with them. Too many years wearing green when I was in the Army.
I cannot include pink in anything Christmas-related.
OdpowiedzUsuńI would buy yard-cuts of three Kona solids if I am the lucky winner!
OdpowiedzUsuńI actually seem to avoid the traditional red and green! I'll use pretty much anything else though!
OdpowiedzUsuńI would probably buy fabrics from the Scamper collection, it is so sweet!
OdpowiedzUsuńI am a follower :)
OdpowiedzUsuńI usually don't like pink, but I am starting to experiment.
OdpowiedzUsuńI think i would by some of the Oh Deer.
OdpowiedzUsuńBardzo podoba mi się zestaw "Honey and Cinnamon Colorway Birds and Bees by Tula Pink".
OdpowiedzUsuńI jako obserwator zostawiam trzeci komentarz:)
OdpowiedzUsuńLove your deer pillow! One color I don't use much at the holidays is yellow. I'm not sure why!
OdpowiedzUsuńI am a new follower!
OdpowiedzUsuńI would never use orange....special for my favorite holiday...Halloween!
OdpowiedzUsuńI need to make a baby quilt....so would choose fabrics for a baby girl!
OdpowiedzUsuńYellow would probably be the most difficult color to use for Christmas decorating. Lately I've been attracted to vintage colors from the 50s when I was growing up.
OdpowiedzUsuńSew Fresh Fabrics is a great shop that I have bought from before. There is so much to love there, but for sure I would want to get some Bella by Lotta Jansdotter, any of the designs from Type by Julia Rothman, and some of the Lines on Grey from Scraffito.
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm a new follower and just love your designs!
OdpowiedzUsuńYour fabric and color choices for the reindeer pillow are so lovely. I love the new look from an old tradition.I shall have a go at this technique as this cushion and fabric has inspired me. Thanks.
OdpowiedzUsuńI enjoy papr piecing now and then, this is a great pattern. I cannot get used to aqua blue and pink for Christmas.
OdpowiedzUsuńI would like the Kona Cool bundle. Thanks!
OdpowiedzUsuńI think I have about half the fabric from Sew Fresh Fabric in my Etsy shopping cart, I can't decide what I like best! :) Believe it or not...green is a color I don't really work with.
OdpowiedzUsuńI've seen some holiday colorways with lime green and hot pink. Not my idea of Christmasy
OdpowiedzUsuńI can't imagine using purple. I'm sure someone could make it cute though :)
OdpowiedzUsuńI would buy the Oval Elements bundle
OdpowiedzUsuńWhat an elegant deer - I have never paper pieced but this may get me to try! I'm pretty traditional color-wise. I've seen purple and green used at Christmas - not my favorite combination! Thanks for the chance to win!
OdpowiedzUsuńellen(at)myerly(dot)net
I actually love colour, so Christmas isn't immune from a rainbow treatment from me! I haven't yet used pink though.
OdpowiedzUsuńI would get some Lucky Penny!
OdpowiedzUsuńI love "Pencils and Glasses" in the Type line by Julia Rothman. Thank you for the chance to win!
OdpowiedzUsuńellen(at)myerly(dot)net
I would probably buy some Flea Market Fancy...awolk at rogers dot com
OdpowiedzUsuńI agree of not thinking of sewing Christmas items with black incorporated in the fabric but I did purchase some vintage style last year that is beautiful! awolk at rogers dot com
OdpowiedzUsuńI am a new follower! awolk at rogers dot com
OdpowiedzUsuńI love Paper Piecing! I Love your Reindeer Pillow! Thanks so Much!
OdpowiedzUsuńI love Paper Piecing! I Love your Reindeer Pillow! Thanks so Much!
OdpowiedzUsuńI think the only holiday color out of my comfort zone is dark, dark green and a dull red. I love BRIGHT colors, and my Christmas decor includes lime, aqua, orange, pink and black! :)
OdpowiedzUsuńI would buy Lucky Penny! Or maybe some Type... :)
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm a follower; thanks for the chance!
OdpowiedzUsuńI do not purchase or work with anything orangey.
OdpowiedzUsuńCandy from clmtc@aol.com
If I win I would purchase either the Kona Bundle inspired by Echo or Windsong in Multi from Laura's Garden Wall..(or both). My name is Candy C. from clmtc@aol.com
OdpowiedzUsuńWhat a super cufe pillow! This is one I'd like to make. Yes. black isn't a color I would choose for Christmas decorating, however, I really want to make a black, white and red quilt one of these days.
OdpowiedzUsuńThank you and Sew Fresh Fabrics for a super giveaway and a chance to win.
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
Lots of pretty fabrics! I'd love to get the 9 FQ's of Kona solids.
OdpowiedzUsuńThanks again for a chance to win.
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
I'm a follower via GFC. I'd like to start following via email, however, it would not let me sign up.??? Would you please add me.
OdpowiedzUsuńThank you and Sew Fresh Fabrics for an awesome giveaway and a chance to win.
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
Went to the Etsy Shop. I like Aqua Small Chevron from Riley Blake Designers.
OdpowiedzUsuńThanks for the giveaway.
I follow you!
OdpowiedzUsuńI think the only color that might be out of order with Christmas is orange with black. That color scheme seems to be appropriate for Halloween!
OdpowiedzUsuńI am a green/red or blue/white so anything outside it for Christmas seems odd.
OdpowiedzUsuńDarker, more somber Christmas colors don't work for me. I'm thinking gold, black, dark green, maroon, etc.
OdpowiedzUsuńFrom Sew Fresh Fabrics, I would choose Oval Elements. Those look like great basics in great colors.
OdpowiedzUsuńJulia Rothman was some great fabrics - typewriter keys, paper clips, bike path all look like what I would buy! I love your deer pattern.
OdpowiedzUsuńI would never use orange. Thanks for the great giveaway.
OdpowiedzUsuńI love your pillow tutorial, thanks so much for sharing. I afraid of those country colours tans and browns and reds.
OdpowiedzUsuńthanks for the giveaway :)
I would choose some Kona or Organic solids. Thanks!
OdpowiedzUsuń1. I've seen Christmas fabric in aqua but that didn't fit into Christmas for me. Thanks.
OdpowiedzUsuń2. I love precuts and fat quarters and I have to say that I do get a lot of Moda fabrics. Thanks
OdpowiedzUsuń3. I'm a happy new follower.
OdpowiedzUsuńI wouldn't choose pink for the holiday season!
OdpowiedzUsuńI would choose fabric from the Type collection - just lovely!
OdpowiedzUsuńOrange is not a color I sew with a lot.
OdpowiedzUsuńI haven't incorporated the pink/aqua Christmas colors. I'm a traditionalist.
OdpowiedzUsuńIf I were lucky enough to win, I'd splurge on Type. That's my new favorite.
OdpowiedzUsuńI am now following you. Your deer pattern is gorgeous.
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm a happy follower!
OdpowiedzUsuńI wouldn't use orange or pink for Christmas!
OdpowiedzUsuńIf I was lucky enough to win I'd buy some 'Lucky Penny'
OdpowiedzUsuńI have not tried gold or silver colors, it's a little bit... too traditional.
OdpowiedzUsuńI like simply colors! the whole collection!
OdpowiedzUsuńI follow your blog via RSS
OdpowiedzUsuńI follow :)
OdpowiedzUsuńSusanne
I am uncomfy with brown and dark green. I prefer bright colors.
OdpowiedzUsuńSusanne
Love the Tiny Deer in Cherry print :)
OdpowiedzUsuńSusanne
I could imagine using most colors, but I don't like rusty or dusty. They don't feel happy enough for Christmas.
OdpowiedzUsuńI have a long list of things I'd like from Sew Fresh Fabrics, but I'd probably go for some Lucky Penny or Type.
OdpowiedzUsuńI think I'd get a selection of Art Gallery's oval elements - they look gorgeous!
OdpowiedzUsuńi find gold a bit old fashioned
OdpowiedzUsuńI love the spools!
OdpowiedzUsuńI like bright colors rather than the ones that are greyed or dingy. I've seen pretty Christmas things with bright pink which so far I haven't been daring enough to try.
OdpowiedzUsuńI would love to get the Flower Doodle bundle. So cute!
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm not a big fan of gold holiday themes.
OdpowiedzUsuńI signed up to follow you!
OdpowiedzUsuńI would love to get some of the Type prints!
OdpowiedzUsuńI would be out of my zone with the traditional red and green. I love the red and lime that you used on the pillow.
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm a new follower.
OdpowiedzUsuńOver at Sew Fresh there are so many choices. I would either go for some solids (love the Echo inspired ones), some text prints or some of the new Bike Path fabric. I love it.
OdpowiedzUsuńI have trouble picturing orange for Christmas, although I've seen it done quite beautifully!
OdpowiedzUsuńI would never use BROWN in any Christmas decorating!
OdpowiedzUsuńWOW! This shop (which is one of my etsy favorites) has 74 PAGES of fat quarters! I looked at darned near every one, and the variety was amazing! I would definitely pick fat quarters....what fun! Happy holidays!
OdpowiedzUsuńI do NOT like batiks
OdpowiedzUsuńI don't think any holiday colorway is out of my comfort zone. I sort of love the one you linked to. I wish I had seen it before I made my husband's stocking. Thanks! kristie_keely(at)yahoo(d0t)com
OdpowiedzUsuńThere are too many options to choose from. Maybe I'd splurge on some Japanese imports or some organic fabric. I could also use some more of Etsuko Furuya's Nico line. My son, Nico, loves this line. Especially the name. Thanks. kristie_keely(at)yahoo(dot)com
OdpowiedzUsuńI have not used pink when making or buying Christmas decorations. I have seen some beautifully decorated homes using pink but I have not gone there.
OdpowiedzUsuńThank you for the pattern and tutorial. I think if I won I would purchase some solids at Sew Fresh Fabrics.
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm not sure I'm afraid of any colorways for Christmas... almost anything can work in the right combo and for the right project!
OdpowiedzUsuńI love anything from Tula Pink :)
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm following you via Google Reader!
OdpowiedzUsuńI don't like to use black too
OdpowiedzUsuńI like the Far Far Away fabrics from your shop
OdpowiedzUsuńorange
OdpowiedzUsuńaccounts in flax
OdpowiedzUsuńfollower
OdpowiedzUsuńI follow you!
OdpowiedzUsuńI am afraid to use bright green... to me, Christmas greens are very dark.
I would love to have the Hedgehogs in Purple from Outfoxed by Lizzy House... hedgehogs are my favorite!
OdpowiedzUsuńFrog077606@aol.com
I don't shy away from any color at Christmas. I love it all.
OdpowiedzUsuńOmbre Solid in Grey from Simply Color by V and Co is one item I love.
OdpowiedzUsuńi know some people like to do pink/teal for christmas, but that is wayyyy out of my comfort zone! thanks for the giveaway!
OdpowiedzUsuńi think i would get the Fresh Cut Grass stash builder. i really need more greens! i love Sew Fresh Fabrics!!
OdpowiedzUsuńI would likely shy away from turquoise, orange, blue...on the other hand if I was to win the give away I would love those colors.
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm not really a pink person. I love bolder colors like red and yellow.
OdpowiedzUsuńI like in the Etsy shop: Mushrooms on Cloud from A Walk in the Woods by Aneela Hoey
OdpowiedzUsuńI don't think I would ever use purple!
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm a follower!
OdpowiedzUsuńI love the Echino Frames!
OdpowiedzUsuńI never use black...well I did once a very long time ago, about 15 years ago, but not since.
OdpowiedzUsuńBlack would be an unusual color for Christmas.
OdpowiedzUsuńYour color combination of red and lime green is somewhat out of my comfort zone.
OdpowiedzUsuńI like the sew fresh fabrics shop's selection of Bella, for example Beaded Chain in Poppy from Bella by Lotta Jansdotter - Half Yard
OdpowiedzUsuńI wouldn't use pink for any holiday items. :)
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm already a follower! I love your pillow! :)
OdpowiedzUsuńHi! Beige, brown and orange are colors I have a hard time using any time of year.
OdpowiedzUsuńThe fabric I would like to buy from Sew Fresh Fabrics would be fat quarter bundle of Simply Color by V & Co. Thanks!
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm a follower also! Thanks!
OdpowiedzUsuńI've seen pink and green used for Christmas but I prefer red to pink.
OdpowiedzUsuńI like Typewriters from Type by Julia Rothman.
OdpowiedzUsuńIt would be hard for me to use Christmas fabric that didn't have red or green in it. ;)
OdpowiedzUsuńI would buy a couple of charm packs of Marmalade if I won. Yummy!
OdpowiedzUsuńI would never make anything out of orange fabric for Christmas because it reminds me too much of Halloween.
OdpowiedzUsuńI would spend all of the gift card on the lime colored fabric named Nesting Birds. I have to make 3 of everything with three great granddaughters.
OdpowiedzUsuńI avoid pinks and purples for Christmas. I love the colours, but I think they are a recent trend that will fade, as all trends do.
OdpowiedzUsuńI really like the deer pillow. When I first saw it I thought of my uncle who likes to hunt. I think I will make him two and send it to him. I am a follower by the way!! he he
OdpowiedzUsuńI guess I am a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas. I do not every put any color up besides red, green and possibly white. It never really occurred to me to use any other color at Christmas. I would say that nothing out of the ordinary here at Christmas.
OdpowiedzUsuńI always stick with red, green, gold and silver for Christmas.
OdpowiedzUsuńI would love to get the Sprig on Green Lattice from Round the Garden by Mary Engelbreit fabric
OdpowiedzUsuńThe giveaway is closed / Cuksy zakończone
OdpowiedzUsuńI don't work with pink or gold much, though I suppose both would work. I'm open to any fabric i receive (might go to charity).
OdpowiedzUsuń
